Can i require guests to pay a security deposit?

Spare Space does not currently support collecting or processing security deposits through the platform.
However, if a host wishes to take a refundable security or damage deposit, they may discuss it directly with the guest after the booking is confirmed. The method and terms of collection (such as cash, UPI, or bank transfer) are entirely between the host and the guest.
We recommend that any such arrangement be:
Clearly communicated to the guest before check-in
Transparent in terms of amount, refund timeline, and return conditions
Spare Space does not mediate or hold responsibility for security deposit transactions handled outside the platform. In case of any damages or disputes, both host and guest are expected to resolve them mutually based on the communication and evidence shared between them.
